Lucky to find MLK
As you may or may not already know, Erik’s work isn’t for sale. You can’t make an offer for one of his paintings and you won’t find them in a gallery with a price tag either. It’s just not going to happen.
However, you’re not totally out of luck as there are 2 main ways that you can own a painting.
First, you can buy one at auction. Erik has donated plenty of pieces to great non-profits and organizations. In fact, over $1.5 Million has been raised through auctioning off his work to benefit charitable organizations.
The auctions are primarily private, typically just for backers of the specific organizations, and they aren’t run by Erik or anyone else associated with The Wahl Group. The chances that you’ll even be at one of these auctions are quite slim.
Here’s some inspiration from a fan that found one of his pieces recently. If you play your cards right and stay tuned, maybe you’ll be as equally lucky as this fan one of these days!
“ On Martin Luther King Day, one of my son’s friends said that a painting was hanging on the fence at at De Portola School. I have recently purchased a new home in Tierrasanta and one of the first things I did was ask the Wahl Group what the chances were about maybe buying one of Erik’s pieces of art to decorate the new home. It was then that I learned that Erik doesn’t sell his art. That said, when (my son’s friend) told me about the painting, we set off up the hill in hopes that the painting was still there. As luck would have it, the painting was still there and the boys climbed the fence and helped me get it. The painting is a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King.”
